Though I taught high school English, I have always loved working with young children. Their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning are energizing, and quality children's books open a new world of learning for them.
One of my favorite courses in grad school was children's literature. I learned that children's books are not only fun and inspiring but also wonderful educational tools.

A little more about me:
Growing up on a farm in Western North Carolina, my life was filled with the rich tradition of storytelling and music. Nanny and Papa would entertain me with stories as we worked in the fields and English ballads as we sat on the front porch in the evenings. My earliest childhood memories are of sitting on Nanny's lap as she read to me.
Beyond forever treasuring these memories, they were formative in creating in my a life-long love of storytelling in all of its forms. Thus, I majored in literature at UNC-Chapel Hill, and later focused on children's literature and writing for my MA-Ed at UC-Boulder. After a career in education, I now enjoy sharing my love of quality children's books with others.
